<HTML>I don't know about the origional rings, but there should be a small strip of paper in the glovebox. It may be stuck on the inside top. With the number on that small paper, a locksmith ( a goodone) can make an origional key. The piece you have may contain the same information.

<HTML>I called my dealership about getting keys made from the key code in the glove box. They said no problem, about $6.00 a piece. I had called a few locksmiths prior to the dealer, and they told me they couldn't do it for a car that old. Maybe you need to try another dealership. Good luck. Zoomer</HTML>

If you still can find the paper label in the glove box that lists the correct Nissan key code I beleive that I know a mechanic near my shop that has the complete Nissan key codes and special Nissan Factory key stamping kit for making brand new Z keys.

I would have to charge you for my services, but would be glad to give it a try.

Please e-mail me at zparts@jps.net or check my website at

sometimes I have excellent used ignition locks or even new ones there for sale.

HEY! I just went through this!!!

<HTML>If you don't have the paper strip in the glovebox, pull one of your door locks. The key code should be stamped on the lock. The number is usually an "M" followed by four digits. (mine was M5317) From this ANY locksmith worth his salt will cut you a new key for under $10. The replacement ignition tumbler is around $25 with labor to install a new one around $25.
I got mine keyed off the passenger's door key code, and it opened ALL my locks: doors, hatch IGN and glove box. </HTML>
