Is 225/50 16 the tire size for Stock Alloy rims on a 1990 300zx NA. Thats the size that Tirerack gave my car. Just wanted to confirm the size before I purchase the tires. Thanks.

Also could I go wider??? and if so, what size wider could I go for the stock rims...

Thanks,

Hey Doug, 225/50/16 are the stock size for the 300zx all the way up until 1996. I believe the TT (Twin Turbo) has 245/50/16 either on all wheels or just the back so you could go as wide as those.

I was almost 100% sure they were, just wanted to re-confirm before purchase. Nothing would suck more than to order tires and find out they are the wrong size.

Thanks for the info,

i ran 255/50-16's on the 16x7.5 NA rims and they worked out just fine.if i can get hold of 1 more TT rear(16x8.5 right rear),im gonna run the 245/45-16's out front and the 255/50-16's with the 16x8.5's at all four corners.with the wider track, and hopefully soon the swaybars,i should be able to handle pretty darn well!

WARNING!!!! be sure to research your tires! some tires have piss poor grip in the rain.i had a certain brand of Goodyear tire that would hydroplane if someone spit on the ground.all tires are NOT created equal.

holla at me when youre ready!!!!

right now,i have alot of family crisis stuff going,so funds are short, but i do want those wheels.and let me say "THANK YOU!" for not going cheap and putting dinky wheels on your car! the Z is a sportscar, you dont know how many guys ive seen go out and buy wheels that were like 18x7's....its horrible! fellas if youre gonna get bigger wheels,at least go wider than stock Z wheels.those dinky wheels might look good on a Honda, but they suck on a Z.
