I HAVE AN 83 ZXT WITH 200K TROUBLE FREE MILES ON IT. DOING THE SPRING MAINTENANCE I NOTICED A WIRE BROKEN ON THE SENSOR CLOSEST TO THE BLOCK IN THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING. I CANNOT FIND WHAT THIS IS OR WHAT IT IS USED FOR OR WHERE TO GET ONE,THE MANUAL SAYS THE ONLY SENSOR THERE IS THE THERMOTIME, BUT THOSE ARE NOT USED ON TURBOS' AND THIS ONLY HAS A SINGLE WIRE, BUILT INTO THE SENSOR, NOT DETACHABLE. I THINK IT MAY BE A SENSOR FOR THE ELECTRIC FAN BUT ? ANY HELP DEALER IS NO HELP

You are on the right track, that sensor wire turns on the auxillary fan to cool the injectors. The fan only comes on after you turn the car off and the engine is above a certain tempature. and please please turn the caps lock off, it is very difficult to read through text that is all caps.

Hi CT-ZXT----------------That's the water temp sensor that sends the signal to your temp gauge. If the wire's broken, you'll have to replace the unit. I'd suggest you search the parts and accessories section on this site for this one.

Roadman, thats a typo.

The gauge sending unit has the bullet connector built into the sensor. The Aux. Fan Switch has the green wire built into it.
