Has anyone ever used the TEC 2 fuel injection system? Please only people who have , no second guessing. I need to know if it made a differece before I spend $1500 dollars on this system. Thanks

RE: better question

Has anybody here ever used the search function?

240turbo (james) and TimZ are the only two active board members here using the TECII that I can recall right now. The effectiveness of your system will be based on your needs as well as your tuning ability. If you don't need the adjustability you won't see any benefits. The TECII is no better or worse than any of the other aftermarket systems. If you have to ask whether you need one, then you probably don't. These kind of systems become a necessity at certain levels. I run a Fel-Pro system. Just because I don't use a TECII doesn't mean I can't give good advice on it.

RE: what greg said...

is absoluely right.

It all depends on what your goals are. If you a n/a motor, unless it's _really_ severely modified you probably won't see alot of gain. If you have a high output turbo setup, it (or something like it) is a necessity.

I picked the TEC-II because at the time it had alot of flexibility for the money, and it has the direct ignition integrated in. It's greatest strength is it's tuneability, which is also kind of it's greatest weakness - there is a bit of a learning curve to climb to learn how to tune it properly.

Learning Curve

****, I have been running the dang thing for 2 years and I still don't have it completely figured out. Alot of fine tuning parameters within the system that indeed make the learning curve somewhat flat depending on your knowledge and patience. Like Greg stated, there are other systems out there that can do the same if not more(SDS, FelPro, DFI, Motec, etc.) One thing for sure, the direct fire setup is nice.

Honesty is the best policy...

It's nice to see the individuals who actually USE the thing give an honest opinion (i.e.(paraphrased) "this is what I use--but there are other things out there, too"). I'll put a third plug behind Greg: When you're LOOKING you are in the theoretical realm, and anybody, regardless of the system they are using, can give you generalities (A.K.A. Engineering Theory). After you've bought, you need the specific mechanics of tuning the thing, then other users experiences will help you dial it in (A.K.A. Engineering Technology). This subject was visited HEAVILY in the archives--I just refreshed my memory, I know it's there-I just saw it!
