are the T-5 trannies from Ford cars the same as the T-5 tranny in the 280ZX Turbos? and if so, can i get a bell housing from a 280ZXT and bolt it up to a Ford T-5? do the bell housings come off or are the permanently attached on the 280ZXT?

So far I haven't found anyone to answer this question.

But I've measured the input shaft and pilot diameters on the Nissand Chevy, and they are different. The Chevy has thicker splines, but a smaller(!) and shorter pilot shaft than the Nissan.
So you can't bolt a Nissan T5 up to a Chevy motor, even with a new bellhousing.

But the Ford might be possible. The trick is to buy two plastic clutch alignment tools for a Nissan and Ford and compare the, that's what I did for the Chevy.

Maybe this weekend.........

But Fords into Zcars have fewer kits and motormounts available...........and replacement bellhousings are $$.
Better to just get a proper trans.

even though i have a turbo z and i am a ford technician i havent tried bolting a ford t5 to a zxt bellhousing.i think it bolt together but the input shaft spline count is different.maybe a 240mm pressure plate with a mustang clutch disc under it.i run a 82 zx na trans in my car but when i put bigger turbo and sds system on i might need bigger trans.
