Im having a real hard time locating this part for my Z here in Australia because the model cars in the US that have this TB do not here in AU. Also form what I can tell the cooling line positioning isnt the same. On mine both lines are horizontal however from what Ive seen on the KA24E TB one is horizontal, one vertical. I couldn't quite see thru all the bs on my car wether or not this makes a difference when it comes to fitting. Is this the norm for Z31s? There are just slight differences in the Aus build Z's to the US builds so I just have to make sure.

Im thinking if it DOES matter it can be cut and re-fixed to be facing the same way as my stock tb's lines? I aint no mechanic so I really dont know, I'm just guessing here. Thanks in advance...

You can use a early 90's nissan stanza throttle body and I think it is pretty much a bolt on. Just check www.ebay.com look around you will find one.

That's the problem. I dont think the Stanza was even released here after the 80s... If it was it aint called a Stanza; it would be either a 200sx or 240sx and from what I've been told by many wreckers they contain the same 54mm TB as in the Z. Infact I have already been sent a TB that came from a SOHC KA24E motor (apparently) but the **** thing was 54mm aswell. I basically need more engine model numbers that have this TB because I dont think the SOHC KA24E engine here has them or at least so I've been told. This is what makes it all that more difficult to find. I've also been told that the SOHC KA24E motor here is for a Bluebird.

I did find one on ebay as you suggested; but it has the different cooling line positioning to my stock TB as I mentioned above and I'm not sure if it's compatible or not as is or if you can modify them fairly easily.

That's what I was thinking; but I'm more concerned about actual room for the lines being in different locations than the stock tb and wether or not this is the same case for US build Z's or just AU ones.

I just had a friend measure the bolt pattern in his r31 skyline and it's the same width as the ZX TB and also 60mm bore. He also mentioned that the z32 tb bolts up to his skyline; now Im hoping that the z32 tb bolts up to a z31? Has anyone actually tried this? I'm just taking a stab in the dark here...

could you not mount it upsidedown? I am sure it could be made to fit, and if it needs any modification at all its probably just cutting one of the nipples shorter where the hose mounts, but i'd try mounting it upside down first if there is some sort of clearance issue.

Actually the z32 throttle body is different then the z31's throttle body and won't work as good as the 240sx and as for it not being an exact fix it's not going to be.. your right the lines are in differnt places but thats okay just buy longer tubing for the new 240sx throttle body it will work.. you'll see but I agree with 88hybrid..its not worth the head ache

That's intresting 88hybrid; when did you try this mod? Was it before all of your other mods? From my understanding the effects of installing this tb aren't noticed until the HP is real beefy. Az-zbum would be the man to know about this; I forget where I read that however but I think it's accurate. When u initially tried it how many mods had you done? Or was your car still fairly stock?

Well I said it before and ill say it agian I gained 2mph in the 1/4 and 2 tenths on my car when it was non turbo with the 240sx throttle body. I ran 80mph at the track for months then when I put the throttle body on I went 82mph so yeh it helped me but I port matched my intake to the tb. I lost low end torqe though but at the track that just helped with traction.

Interesting; thanks for the input 300zx86t. My biggest problem is that the throttle bracket is on the opposite side on my car, and from what i know this cant be swapped. The only other option I was thinking if i couldnt find one suitable is to get a normal 300zx one bored out some. Then it could infact exceed 60mm. I'm not really sure about that however, just an idea. Why the **** did they have to be so difficult with the jap/aus build cars lol

Throttlebody alone will not yeild much. You must do the whole package, what good does installing a 6 ft door in front of a 3 ft hallway do. Samething. The plenum wont take the extra air the bigger throttlebody gives it. There is no point. I was able to insall an even bigger thottlebody, with my intake, because there is more volume than even the ported stocker.

Yeah I hear ya; Im really new to actual modifcations as I've spent the last 6 months restoring all the stock parts that were tired such as afm, steering gear, transmission and boat loads of other stuff so now im looking to get some more beef out of my car.

Thanks for ya'll input on this, appreciated...

Well from what other people have said including engloid is that naturally aspirated you can make a max 200 horsepower with factory plenum and if everybody says how can you make power when the air intake piping is only 50mm, well if you really want to get the good gains from it run some mandral bends to the air meter. Also the way I see it is a 240sx is only a 2.4 liter with a 60mm tb so why not put one on an engine that really needs it a 3 liter. Everybody has different opinions.. all I know a sh!t load of people have them on there car for them not to work. More air more power thats why im pushin 25psi.
