I took my 85 300zx to the local dealership and they had told me they will not fix the fuel injectors because the car is not worth it. It has a weak Steering kunckle, the floor boards have small holes in it, and my "frame is bad". I am buying a new Steering knuckle and the z31 is all set to have in go right in, the floor boards are nothing, and i dont know what they mean by frame the car is a uni body....but are they alowed to just disband my car like that?

uh...HighlanderMac: let's not talk until we know what we're talking about, ok?

Since it is a safty service campaign, and not a recall, there is some leeway with the dealership as to if they do the work or not. Usually the only requirement is that you drove the car there, and it's not belching smoke or missing key parts. My frame is a little rusty, and I've got a small hole in my passenger side floor pan, but I had NO problems getting the work done.

I assume you've already called 1-800-Nissan-1 to see if the work has already been done on your car. If it is eligible to have the work done, call back to the dealership and tell them you talked to Nissan, and all 84-89 300zx's are to be fixed.

If they are still balking at doing the work, call another dealership in the area. Someone should be sympathetic to your cause.

Oh and yes your car has a frame. Look under and see for yourself.

How did the dealership know that your car has a weak steering knuckle, bad frame, and floor board holes? Did you tell them or did they do a close inspection of your car before writing up the service request? It's hard to believe that they'd do that.

The fuel injector campaign has nothing to do with your car's frame, body, and steering knuckle. The corporation made the decision, not the dealers. It appears that dealer wants to pick and choose which cars they work on. Take it to another Nissan dealer. Don't point out any defects in your car or give them an excuse to reject your car. Tell them that you want only the fuel injector service done and nothing else, thank you.

At work today I was going through all the TSB's on the Z31 and came across the injector campaign letters for the Nissan dealerships. In the letters it said that the Nissan dealers were required to do the service campaign and were also required to use ALL the parts in the kits. I go back to work on Tuesday and would be happy to print copies and post scans of those for you.
