pricing on 1990 TT Z's?

i've been looking for a Z for quite a long time (years, i'm just picky) and the ones that mostly strike my interest are the 1990+ TT models, i never really looked up blue book value on any of them, just kinda went by what everyone had up for their own pricing, but today i decided to look it up, and suprisingly the private party retail was only 5G's and some change, and dealer retail was around 7G's and some change, and most all of the pricing i've seen for stock TT Z's (1990 alone) has been at least 8K-12K, for stock Z's, is there something that i missed out on that causes the cars to be worth more than the blue book value? or are people's pricing just way off? cus when i put all the info in for the blue book i put in low miles, every option (minus the auto, cus i only look at the 5speeds), and outstanding condition, so the pricing should be the highest i've seen when it is well below some of the lowest ive seen :(...

just kinda curious, any input is greatly appreciated

i am mainly curious, because last time i went to get a loan for a car they would not give me a dime over the blue book value, even tho the car was worth well over that...

thanks

Economy

The prices on many used cars dropping. People just can't justify selling such a fine car (once sold as high as 40k) that low so they end up keeping it or selling it for more. Finding one at blue book is gonna be hard so find a nice one for 1000 to 2000 more with all maintence done. These cars are well worth it.

It comes down to....

- You can find one that needs enough work to get the owner to lower the price closer to blue book (for the loan). But then you will end up putting out the difference to get it back up to specs. If you are pretty handy -- then costs would be the parts.

- You do as Mr SPZ suggests - pay a bit more from someone who has kept the car maintained.

FYI-- Here in the north east once the weather gets a bit nicer demand for the sports cars increases. So you might stand a better chance finding something (and someone willing to negotiate) in the Fall/Winter time frame.

Re: Economy

i totally agree the cars are worth it, thank you for justifying why ppl are asking so much more the blue book... the prices have dropped over the years, but i'm just a poor college student who can't afford a 10K dollar loan :(... thanks again tho...
