parts question: dash and console

I found a 260 at a junkyard, have already raided it for a spare rim and strut cover...my questions: the center console is not cracked, how hard is it to remove and what should I pay, or what is it worth? its a 260 auto, mines a 240 auto.
2nd...I think the dash is not cracked either, how hard to remove and what should I pay?

You should be able to remove the console with just a phillips head screwdriver. Take some care up where the dash and radio are so that you don't break anything. Pretty easy; may take 20 or 30 min at the most. Check the rubber boots on the shifter and grab them too.

If you have the TIME, removing the dash isn't brain surgery, either. You might want to consider getting a price from them on all the gauges, knobs, vents, etc., before you do the work. It is is cheap enough for you, and you get there on a nice morning and can be there all day if necessary, go for it.

Remember, its easier taking it off than putting it on. But if you get a good deal and don't mind speding TIME, then you'll appreciate having a good crackless dash and it will enhance the value of your Z.

Not to sound old, but you may check the archives to see if anyone has switched a 240 over to a 260 dash and console. 1st thing that comes to mind is that the fuse block is in the center console on the 240 and I believe the 260 is somewhere in the kick panels. You wouldn't be able to access the fuse block with the 260 console if you left it where it is now. Also have to consider heater control panel is different, may still work, have to check the cables.

If the dash and console are not cracked, I would go ahead and buy them. Any Z dash that isn't cracked will be worth a few hundred. Even if it doesn't work for your 240z, I'm sure there is a 260z owner looking for a crack free dash.
