I have an 81'280zx...while I am enjoying my ride to and from work..my Z will just shut off!!!?? The oil pressure stays up...amps guage up..just ZERO RPMs...but light do not come on as if key were turned off..but I can turn key back to ACC and then back to ON and it will haul butt again and POOF..off again!!! Voltage reg was bad and I replaced entire alternator.. intalled new rotor and plugs, plug wires and coil..also new fuel filter. This also happens at ANY speed. Can be within first mile or 10 miles..cold engine or runing temp..no matter. I check all the wiring and seems great.. checked fuseable links..no damage found??? Totally STUMPED. When its running it is GREAT...but might shut off once going to work..or 10 times!!!

My '79 ZX does that a lot, but only at stop lights and stuff. Check your fuel line, that's all I can think off. There might be something messed up with the idling thingy...check it too, coulnd't hurt

My daughter's '83ZX was doing that..
I found it to be a faulty Electronic
Ignition module (mounted on the side of the distributor)...
I replaced it and everything cleared up...
