Well I've talked about what I don't like about the new Z. Well here is what I would have like more!

1: The shape of the car would remain almost unchanged from the original 240Z, with the exception of bringing the center line of the car down more making the finder wells more pronounced, somewhat like the Corvette Stingray but not as elaborate, more subtle.
2: Keep the length of the car the same as the 240Z
3: Make the car wider by about 6 inches, this space would be used to add more safety space to the doors, 3 inches on both sides.
4: Keep the bucket headlights but enclose them like on the new Eclipse.
5: The Hood would take its design from the New Shelby and Saleen S351, Vented Down and Open.
6: All Finders would be flared out 2 inches to accommodate 16 to 17 inch tires.
7: The rear lights would be inset, just like they are in the classic 240Z but flush against a black plastic panel. They would also be totally invisible until turned on.
8: All of the side turn lights with be flush with the body and hidden behind smoked plastic. Only visible when on.
9: The left/ right turn signals would be including into the side rearview mirrors.
10: The IRS is mandatory.
11: 4 Wheel Disk Breaks, twin piston on front, single on rear.
12: A reinforced back deck that has the space and can accommodate wing options.
13: It would also come with front and rear strut braces.
14: The twin mufflers would be out the left and right rear in the same way as the last 300ZX.
15: The Z logo would be at the same location as the Classic 240Z, and a V6/V8 would go behind the front wheel.
16: All cars would come with CD, 460W sound system
17: The Z Model would come with V6 with 5 Speed Trans, $22K-$26K with all options, leather, AC.
18: The ZX Model would be V8 with 6 Speed Trans., $28K-$32K Loaded!

You get over it, if it's not a retro car than why use the Z name. When Nissan changed the body style the first time they called it a ZX. It's a new car give it a new name! And by the way I own 2, 240Z from 30 years ago, 2 Mitsubishi Eclipse's GS/GT, owned a SN95 Saleen Cobra and run one of the largest web sites for hotrod builders in the US. So I have just a little bit know-how when it comes to such things!

OK, first of all, the V8 thing -- no. You say you want it to be like the first; well, all of the Z cars have had 6 cylinders -- either inline or v. Personally, I'd rather have an inline. It makes the hood a more sexy shape while having the potential for a lot more power than a similar sized V6. Second of all, the price of a V8 and all the options about which you are talking would boost the price way over the $30,000 mark. Also, you say that since it has the Z name it must be retro. Name any car that has done exactly that while keeping the same name. Corvette, no. Mustang, not until recently. Camaro, nada. Any Porsche, Ferrari, Bugatti, etc. These cars are just some examples of sports cars. Since when have you ever seen a Japanese sports car go retro simply because it has the same name? Not to mention all of the other non-sports cars out there. That is the point of a "new" car -- to be completely new. Of course it is going resemble past models -- duh! That is why it keeps the same name. Yes, some cars now are going retro, but just because it has the same name does not mean it MUST be retro. Don't get me wrong, I like some of the retro cars out there, but the Z does not have to be that way simply because it has the same name. My gosh, the name is not even going to be exactly the same. I have heard two options for the name -- "Z" and "350Z." These have as much in common with the 300ZX, 280ZX, and 280Z as they do with 260Z and 240Z. So why can't the new one resemble the formerly mentioned?

QiqJoe one question: do see any european car stray

from its form design? like Porsche, Benz, BMW's Ferrari, Lambo, or even the Jag's? **** no! why because a car should keep evolutionating have you seen the new Carrera GT Concept? the freaking car resembles still a 60's 911 thats the way styling of a car should always go. And dont pay attention to the Corvetts, Camaro's or any other American car, since when are American Car's the Trendsetters? try like NEVER!

Nothing matters!!!

The Z will be like this latest concept...refined a bit , but mostly like it!!!!
IT WILL NOT BE RETRO
IT WILL NOT HAVE A V8
IT WILL NOT HAVE FUNNY LOOKIN "BUCKET"(what a sexy word) HEADLAMPS
IT WILL NOT HAVE A BIG UGLY SQUARE GRILL EITHER.

I dare all the naysayers to chop off a finger everytime they lust for one of the new ones after seeing it onroad....we'll see who'll be the happier driver.

GET BACK TO THE TOPIC!!!

You know this topic was ment to get people who like Z cars to throw in ideas of what they would like to see, not have people start bashing other people. Just drop it! Some like classics and some hate them, but this topic is for people with IDEAS not trash talk about Z's. Please move to another Topic for that stuff!

Stole the design of what it should have been?

thats a very crazy kind of thing to say... i doubt the astins designers even had the Z in mind in at all when they designed their cars. the astin carries design cues of the DB6, as can be seen in early bond flicks, like the grill for instance... i dont think it looks Z at all...

but awhile ago i had an epifiny... round out the top of the current concept's headlights... it'd look good i think, you know follow the curve of the lamp inside the glass...

mind you i like the current one... the one bill spec'd out sounded good too... though the two engine option dont sound good to me.

my version of the 2003 Z car

How about this guys... Take the Silvia...add the Skyline engine, give the first California concept body the once over (give a look to the Aston Martin) shake well and voila a new Z car!! If you havent seen the new Silvia check Nissan Austrailia
They could probably bring it home within the cost margins as most of the development is done already save for the left hand conversion and de-smoggin the engine. I know there is alot more to it than that just my Z fantasy...love those inline sixes!!
