Fule injector recall & wiring: Is the wiring part mandatory? Better to avoid or no?
Hello all, looking for clarification on the infamous fuel injector recall/campaign & whether just replacing the injectors is enough or if the wiring changes are also mandatory.
SHORT VERSION: As many may know, the Z31 has an old fuel injector recall that involves both new injectors and re-wiring of the firing order. Some people like the firing order change & others do not from what I've read. I'm looking at an '84 Z and realize that the injectors appear to have been replaced, but no wiring work was done.
In short: Does it matter that the wiring part of the recall was not done & only the injectors/rails replaced?
Background for those who care:
I'd posted a thread on getting an '84 NA & found out the fuel injector recall/campaign was never done. I was lining up to do it locally when the seller pulled the plug & wanted to do it himself. Never heard anything & thought the deal was dead.
Anyway, got a call the other day- the owner says the recall was done & sent me a nearly illegible receipt from the dealer listing 2 fuel rails & an injector assembly. Might be 1 or a package of 6. I can't tell. I've contacted him for clarification.
One thing I can tell, however, is that the wiring part wasn't done. Is this a good thing or bad thing? I've done some research, but aren't sure.
I am prepared to travel at no small expense and see this car in person. If it is in the condition claimed I would go ahead with the purchase. Never thought I'd spend so much time on a diversion, but here I am. Thanks to all.
