Coughing, Smoking and Wheezing

Dead miss from idle through all ranges.
Oil Smoke is coming from exhaust when reving up, and black carbon looking residue on the ground under exhaust outlet.

Good compression on all 6 cylinders, 155 - 160 psi.
I have replaced the fuel injectors and checked voltage to all.

I have replaced plugs and replaced plug wires and distributor components.

Blown Head Gasket ???????

Any thoughts !

Are you sure the smoke is oil burning? Is it very light colored smoke with a bluish tint? The black carbon residue sounds like it's running rich. Did this just start happening or what? If it's running rich, I'd check and clean the connections to all the sensors, but especially the engine temperature sensor. If that has a bad connection or is disconnected, it makes the ECU think the engine is cold and it richens the mixture. If disconnected, it will barely run.

Excellent point, I think it's disconnected. I just bought the car in a NOT running condition which I quickly conqured, darned if it doen't need 12 volts at the de\istributor to run. Ill check the sensor and make sure it's connected. What's the chance of a bad ECU ?

The ECU's seem to be pretty reliable. If it runs at all, the ECU is probably OK, but anything's possible. Lots of things to check before suspecting ECU though.

IFOUNDIT: Coughing, Smoking and Wheezing

I found it, the fuel injector seals had dried out to the point that they are creating a vaccum leak. No one seal was leaking bad enough to hear BUT all were leaking enough that the sum of the whole created a lot of problems !
