cold engine squeel again

Well its dipping below 40F in the mornings in eastern PA these days and my cold engine squeel has returned. Sounds like a dry bearing, increases with engine rpms, goes away when it warms up completely. Only notice it when the engine is under load. Sounds like its coming from in front of the firewall on the right. Thought it might have n=been a tranny bearing so i had the dealer change the tranny fluid for $100, must be gold they put in it.

Anyone have a similar noise and find the root cause?

Does the squeel change when you turn your wheel left and right? It could be the power steering pump if thats the case. You can determine if its a belt squeel by turning on accessories and loading the alternator. You should hear the squeel change or react.

A crank main end bearing or transmission input shaft bearing could be the cause. I have heard that our transmission do have a small issue with the input bearing on the transmission. But if thats the case it should dissapear when the clutch is pushed in.

Folks a e belt squeel sounds diferent, I think 350 TTZ may be onto something, it does go away when the clutch is depressed. I have had it to the dealer twice last winter, they couldn't hear it. I guess I will need to be there on a cold morning with them to point it out.

mcm4me,

Yup, its the tranny. Its on the primary shaft so relatively easy to fix. LOL relatively.

Depending on how long your still under your warranty, I would push fairly hard to get your transmission pulled and inspected. Tell them what you told us, that the squeel goes away when you put the clutch in, and they should be able to locate the problem quickly. Since it was squeeling, it means there was a transfer of material and galling which leaves tell tale marks.

I have just under 15K on a 05 model with an extended warranty to 7 years, If I'm not covered,I'd be surprised. I will make this my cold weather mission, the dealer has been responssive on other issues like the rear end clicking TSB and replaced my Blose sterio head unit for CD skipping.

mcm4me:

I had my Blose amp and head unit replaced different visits.

I would love to see your Super Black Z33 clean. Zanio makes your car look like it's made out of glass.
