So you're a Pontiac diehard, but you don't need the space of the G8 GT GXP and the Solstice GXP is just a bit too "me too." So what's a Big Chief enthusiast to do? Well, if you've got $35,000 kicking around in your automotive slush fund, how about a brand-new, never-titled 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT? The mid-engined, V6 Fiero that General Motors should have been building the whole time, but only got around to developing just before they sent they took the plastic-bodied model out back? Yes, that GT.

Evidently thinking ahead, some enterprising chap found a fire-engine red example and promptly mothballed it. Quite likely the only "brand new" Fiero on the planet (GT or otherwise), this time warp rear-driver has just 221 miles on it, and is still on MSO. Heck, we're willing to be that the cassette player has never even seen a copy of White Snake's Greatest Hits!

If you're interested, the optimistically-priced but irreplacable Fiero can be found at Hinton Chevrolet-Buick in Lynden.

I've seen these converted to a sbc 350, that really perks em up.

Looked at buying one new in '84, but just couldn't bring myself to closing the deal. No oommpph at all! Another fine example of GM bringing a vehicle to market that is all potential and no substance.

There was an interesting piece on the second generation '89 Fiero in High Performance Pontiac about a year ago. The car would have just started to come into it's own. Good thing they killed it.

We've got a guy that shows up with one with the SBC at our autocross events on occasion. Sharp looking conversion, but man is that thing squirrelly!

Aptly named!

They called it "Fiero" for a reason...

This is the worst vehicle in the world to work on !! AND I really hope you didn't want to haul luggage or groceries, or a coupla golf bags, because under the hood, there is virtually NO room whatsoever for anything.

The best swap I have seen is dropping a stock Northstar in there. Perfectly balanced, high revving small block that doesn't overpower them.

Ogre, that is the 1988 GT they were talking about. It's actually a great car...the one year they made it. The name had already been tarnished by the original POS Fiero.

edit: He is asking double of what I'd be willing to pay for it.

This is absolutely hilarious! I would LOVE to see the seller's face after 39 years of it being on the market for $35,000. I bet he'll tell himself that people just don't understand how VALUABLE this car is. LOL!!!

Terrible handling (I drove one as a rental when they were new), blocky cheesy interior, insanely long coolant lines, and all the curb appeal of a Honda Civic CRX.

It's definitely a unique (yet sadly no better than many other RWD coupes). I'd give it an all-around grade of C-.

I had one (852M4) when I was 16, loved it! I would buy another (GT) but not for anything near that $.

I was thinking of actually getting one and swapping in an LS1 in it in the past. Then I found my 280Z and 300ZX....

Fieros were always known for their huge option of kit cars. But I have to say that is one good looking kit.

I stand corrected on the HPP article. I believe there was something regarding artwork for future badging for upcoming cars.

I remember riding in one once. There is PLENTY of room for luggage. When its under your feet, your sitting on one and the other is on your lap. The seat belt is that long!

It might bring that kind of money at Barrett-Jackson, but that's even a stretch.
