Battery tray question?

Am replacing the battery this afternoon and while cleaning out the area I find that the battery tray has a drain on the right (passenger) side that's funnel shaped and about four inches long.

Is there supposed to be a hose connected to this drain?

I just can't remember from the last time I took the battery out, and haven't located the information in the Service Manual. (I wish there were a full index to the Manual).

No hose. Its for any possible boil over that can happen with acid filled batteries. Personally I switched all my vehicles over to Optima to eliminate any boilover and post corrosion.
Sounds like an ad to me.
