A young friend of mine wrecked his Z late friday night.
He has a 71 240Z with a turbo setup.
I guess he was following a 5.0 Stang a little to close in the rain. Stop light turned yellow and the stang actually tried to stop slidding into my buddies lane and forcing him up into the median wall. The Stang didnt hit him, and continued to slide completely across the intersection as the red light runner cameras flashed off.
So he ruined his Enkie series 92 15" rim on the driver side front and folded the lower control arm as well as the tension rod. The frame rail is buckled pretty bad on BOTH sides. With the control arm and tension rod replaced the car pulls to the driver left and leaves the steering wheel clocked at about 10:30. The fire wall seems to have absorbed some of the damage as well. Looks pretty bleek...
So I showed him Mull's Production of the Hugo car... Specifically the frame rail video. Im sure a jig could easily be built to weld up a set of straight rails from one of the cars at the local wreckers.
Im not sure what exactly his plans are at the moment as he mentioned several ideas. One of which was to buy another car and swap everything over.
I was just a little saddened by the site as tonight was the first night I was able to see what had happened. I almost expected him to say he was messing around like a dumb arse, but that sucks.
