amp power cable through firewall

I am trying to install an amplifier under the passenger seat and was wonderiing if this is what everyone talked about poking a hole in and running the power cable through? Has anyone experience any leaks doing this? Also, I saw some other people's post of maybe another hole near the ecu that is right behind the battery. Is there one?

I know the question has been asked to death. I just want to make sure so I dont screw anything up.

Oh and sorry for the huge image. Didnt have time to resize.

yeah there is one behind the battery that you could use, that is how i ran mine. i never tried the floor board but that is an option as well, you just need to make sure its tacked up tight and away from any heat

USE A GROMMET! And put a fuse inline before going through the firewall.

there isnt one, you have to open one up with a unibit( all the space behind the battery is hollo on teh fire wall). it will be your wire right behind the glove box inside the car. I think this is the cleanest easiest soultion. you dont even know i have a amp in my car becasue the wire goes directly behind the battery

i think the easiest solution is to drop the power wire down into the passenger fender well where there are already cables going down. then there is a couple of rubber grommets already undused which go around the ECU (not touching it or crossing wires, just in the vicinity)

The picture above is of the passenger fender well. I didnt see any unused grommets in there. Just a big yellow bundle with its own grommet and the bundle going into the big black rubber thing shown. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Haulnazz, in one of your previous posts, you mentioned poking a hole in a rubber thing. Was it just an unused grommet that you poked a hole in?

There is a hole in the fender that is at the base of the battery. It is what a wiring harness goes through. There is a piece of plastic (cap if you will) that fills/covers the hole.

You need to take your fender off to do this. I ran my cable from the batttery, through the hole, into the door harness rubber (from the door to the car body), and into the cabin of the car. All that you will cut is a small hole (smaller than the diameter of your cable you are installing) into the rubber that houses the door wiring harness.

what i did was drill a hole through the hood and ran the wire outside the car and drilled a hole through the whole door and through the door panel. Pretty easy ; ) Theres a hole on the drivers side already there, but then again your mounting the amp on the passenger side.

there is a rubber plug (which I'm calling a grommet). I just drilled a hole in the rubber and ran the cable through, just like if it was a grommet. This passage way goes beneathe the ECU and down INSIDE the frame rail underneathe the passenger door sill. There are several holes on the interior, which I ran the cable back into the cabin by the seat belt lower bolt, then underneathe the passenger seat to the amp.

Take a little time and can be a bit frusterating, but i was using a wire hanger, some proffessional tool might make it easier i dunno.

Yea I just installed my amp (by the way: EASY don't let some shop charge you $200+ {AND I ALREADY HAD THE FRIGGIN' PARTS!} )

But there is a place on the firewall that has a rubber elbow on it protecting some loomed cables I cut a hole in it and ran the amp cable through there and it worked it's way into the passenger footwell! I did it outside of my barber shop....
