I'm aware that this is probably a really dumb question but I cannot find an answer to it anywhere.

I'm in the process of changing my alternator on my 1980 280zx n/a. I didn't pull the wires on the original alternator (a friend did that part). As we were putting the new alternator in, we realized that we have no idea where to hook up the ground wire. After an extensive search I've come to the conclusion that I must just be stupid because no one else seems to have had this problem. Can someone please tell me where the ground wire goes? I've attached a picture in hopes that that it will be helpful.

Thanks guys.

@ YardDogg I read somewhere that it was a connect for a dummy wire. I don't know for sure though.

@ Palladin,
Thank you. I have two Es. I was worried that it might make a difference.

Everything's hooked back up... Unfortunately both of my batteries are dead now. Who saw that coming?

Thanks for the help guys. :)

While you are at it, don't forget to check out the condition of the battery wires:
