Hi,

I've been hearing a noise when I take my foot off the clutch, the noise goes away when I press the clutch down. Also when I am in first gear or reverse, I feel vibration from the clutch. My mechanic thinks that the clutch is going bad.

My quesiton is, do I need to replace the cltuch soon or can I wait on it for a little longer also how mutch do you think it will cost to replace it, parts and labor?

Thanks,
Mike

It will most likely just get worse. You can replace it yourself for about $150.00. A shop will cost you around $600.00. I am putting one in my 79 next weekend. Good Luck.

I'd install a new pilot bushing as well which might be the noise, as well as the clutch that's causing the vibration. Also, resurface the flywheel and check the input shaft to the trani. for any excessive play.
