My 1992 300zx 2+2 has a very bad wobble in the front steering whlie braking and it it getting worse each day. I have read before that this symptom could mean a warped brake rotor? I suspect it is something other than a rotor because it stops when the car drops below approx. 15mph. If it were a rotor wouldnt it do it all the way till the complete stop? Is it a front steering component problem? Please help!
Thanks in advance, Danny

IMO is it's rotors

First off, Z32's are known to warp their rotors.

You normally won't notice rotor warpage through the steering wheel
unless you're moving at a good speed, or really stomping it. It's osciallation
basically, so you may not notice it a lower speeds.

i had the same problem repeatedly, i forced nissan to repalce all rotors with heavier rotors and heat defelectors-- for $500. Nissan is aware of the poblem, but will not acknowledge that the stock rorors are not sufficient for the weight of the car and the heat generated when braking.

god luck--try installing after market rotors, otherwise you will have to have them cut every 3-5k miles until they need repalcement

it is imparitive that you have the rotors machined ON THE CAR with a procut or the equavilent that way the runout in the rotor is matched to the hub ,you must also mark the rotors so that they can be reinstalled in the ssame position.

When did Nissan fix this? 1995?

I believe Nissan went to vented discs in either 1995 or 1996. This may
have been a long awaited upgrade to the rotors that would often warp.

My 1990 also has this problem. In my case, the cause is the alignment (camber out of spec) has worn the inside of the front tires unevenly. Your cause may well be warped rotors, but you might also check the tire wear on the inside of your front tires. (Search the forum using "camber" for info on how to fix excessive wear on the inside of the front tires).

I have this problem before and I have fixed it. It is because the unbalance of the shaft assy-propeller. I have changed a new one for it and it cost a lot!!

Spraying water on hot rotors can definitely cause them to warp, but I think that usually there is something either wrong with the design or as zresearcher has said a torque problem. I just had new front rotors and pads put on at Nissan approx. 4000 miles ago. They are warped already. No emergency stops, no car wash when hot. I've already talked to the service manager to let him know I was bringing it back in with my 12 mo. 12,000 mile warranty. I can assure you, turning my expensive brand new rotors will not be the fix.
