I took my lower passenger side dash off today, trying to figure out what's wrong with my fan (didn't find it)
but i noticed two wires with male and female connectors, so i plugged them in. NOw this orange sensor light is on all the time. WHat is it for? is this a bad sign? it HAS to be...unless something is shorted..which is also a bad thing.
btw....my fan motor doesn't work. fuse is ok..
any ideas?

Nissan put that light in a lot of their 80's cars.. it is triggered by the mileage (30K then 60K intervals? something like that) and all it means is that it's time to take the car into a Nissan dealer and have the oxygen sensor checked. It doesn't mean anything is wrong, just that Nissan wants you to bring the car in. Then they can check things out and reset the light to go off at the next 60K mark.

Most people just disconnect the stupid thing and go on with their lives.

Matty, my blower motor was doing the same thing, just didn't work. I took off the kick panel, and took the connectors for the light in the kick panel, and touched them to the power for the blower motor. It worked, so I knew my power was bad. I searched and couldn't find where the power line went bad, so I cut it and sealed it off, and ran a new fused power line back from the battery through the firewall, which is conveniently right by the blower motor. I cut the wire about 2" away from the connector, and attached the new power wire.

I own a 1983 280ZX. When you described the blower motor it reminded me of a problem I have with my car. As soon as I start the car, a motor goes on in my dashboard. There's no way to stop it -- sometimes it automatically stops itself but only for a short time. I'm not sure what it is -- Do you think perhaps it's the motor blower you were referring to?
