Do these things really work? I have 2 small pings on my Z. The Paintless Dent Removal Guys want 150 to remove them. For 20 bux I'm willing to give this pops a dent thing a try, but I don't want to damage my car. Any thoughts?

I guess it really depends on where the dings are. I had hail damage within the first month of owning my Z. I just automatically took my Z to a body shop because I had 2 nasty dings over the rear fender. Even though the body shop got all the other dings out, 11 total, those 2 they couldn't get out no matter what. So they had to take the panel off and do what they do.

It couldn't hurt to see if it'll work, right? It's only $20. Are your pings on the door? Good luck TXUNAMI.

Most likely it will not work. It may improve the dents a bit if you are lucky but the odds of getting them out completely are zip. But, for $20 it may be worth a shot. If you follow their directions you won't do any damage to your car. And like the other guy said it depends where they are as to your rate of success.

Thx guys.

Anyone with any hands on experience with this thing?

Ping one is the drivers side door, small, less than 1 cm diameter. The second is on the passenger side rear panel right along that slight crease over the wheel well.

Seems like you might be able to get that one out of the door ok but the one over the crease seems like you might have some problems. $150 isn't too bad. My insurance covered the hail damage but the body shop charged my insurance about $1600 after everything was said and done. That included Paintless Ding Repair (PDR) and body work and a repaint on 1 panel.

Never used the do it youself thingy. Took my miata to a professional dent removal place. They removed several dingys to absolute perfection. I would take it to the pros. They know which dings can and cannot be removed with their system. I would not want to risk scratching my Z, or pulling the dingy out to far.

Try to heat the dings a bit with hair dryer before you work on them. I used to be a PDR tech and even with the $2000 tools I had sometimes dings were not completly out.

TZUNAMI:
I had it done, last week on a dent, on the door crease. The dealer
had a paintles dent guy that they use for dings that happen on the
lot. these guy are your best bet, they work on this type of car all the
time. It cost me $85.00, but well worth the bucks..
The ding is gone, I can see where it was, only because I knew ware
to look, but no one else, with the exception of a body man would
be able to find it. Good luck, but do try talking to your service mng.
where ever you get your work done.
