This is a shot in the dark and I'm hoping 96 Z is similar. Got a 96 pathfinder and trying to program the keybob which has been verified as the correct one and does transmit. Lock all doors with driver switch, insert and remove key 6 times until flashers flash twice(car going into program mode), insert key and turn to accy, then push any button once on keybob and flashers should respond....but they don't, as if the car does not register the keybob. Is this similar to the Z and does anyone have any suggestions. Nissan is clueless.
Thanks

if your car goes into programing mode(ie lights flash twice), then it should work. It sometimes takes more that 6 cycles of the key to get into programing mode. Also check that the FCC codes are the same. The newer nissans are particular on this. Though I only have experience with 99+newer Nissans.

If it si going into program mode (lights flashing) chances are the remote is the wrong one or is bad. Will your other remote program?

Nissan even tried one off the shelf. Nothing. The codes match. It's as if the car is not receiving.

I thought the procedure included opening the trunk hatch (been tWo years since I did it on my 94). Let me dig up the procedure.

Here's what I got:

1. Open the rear hatch.
2. Close and lock all doors.
3. Insert and remove the ignition key more than six times within 10 seconds. This will erase any original ID codes from the remote control unit.
4. Manually unlock and lock the driver's side door once using the inside lock lever.
5. Press the door lock button on the remote controller one time. This enters the remote controller ID into the remote control unit.
6. Complete ID enter mode by opening the driver's side door. This cancels the ID enter/ programming mode.

I attached the official nissan key fob procedure
