Hey Guys
I have a 73 with 72 SU's on it. I'm trying to figure out wich heat shield I have. I believe it's the stock one from 73. I looked on ebay and found two different one's. But neither match the one I have. The previous owner put the SU's on the car.
So I guess my question is. Will the 4 screw type SU's, 3 screw type SU's and Flat top carbs interchange with any of the heat shields? Or should you use the period correct heatshield depending on the carbs you use?
I have the 3 screw SU's now. So I know they'll interchange. But wouldn't be the first time i've thought that. Then ran into a problem. Here's some links to the heat shields on ebay. These do not look like mine.

Forget about heat for a second and think about gasoline. Gasoline shield. You need the kind of heat shield that will STOP a dripping carb from dripping on your hot exhauxt manifold and starting your car on fire. After that your can wrap the gas hoses in some kind of insultion. Others may have additional ideas. Norm K.
