Can someone help lead me to a member who succesfully installed
or transplanted a 300ZX twin turbo engine to a 1977 280Z?
Do you know of any article I can read about this topic?

Off hand, do you know if this Twin turbo engine will fit to the engine bay of the Z.
What area of diffculty will I be expecting during the conversion. I will be using
electromotive tec II for my fuel system/ignition.

Thanks for any info.

I know there is a article on zdriver about putting a Z31 N/A engine in a early z. Never heard of a TT Z32 engine. Those engines are pretty wide aren't they? I imagine youd need a stick of butter, a shoehorn, and alot of money.

Everyone is always talking about how cool it would be to have a 300ZX VG30DETT, but no-one ever does it cause the difficulty, the amount of money it would take. I have seen pitcures of early Zs with that motor installed so it can be done. There is a guy(ZR8ED) here who hase droped a 84-89 300ZX turbo motor in his 280Z, he said he had some clearance problems and had to modify some things to get it in. Keep in mind the 84-89 motor isnt as big as the 90-96 so.....

Go to hybridz.org you'll have a lot better chance of finding something there, its a whole website with mesage boards devoted to swapping diferent motors into Zs.

Four of us lived in South Windsor Connecticut...all owned a Z
I got 77 Z turbo with electromotive but not too happy with the setup.
Like to go for broke and install a Z32TT engine. I don't have any
knowledge about the difficulty of Z32 installation to 77Z engine bay.
Any advice?

It does fit..sort of..

Hi. I'm the guy who did the Z31 turbo motor swap into a 280Z. It required lots of mods, and a fair amount of cutting up the car to stuff it in.

I have looked very closely at putting a tt engine in my Z. the simple fact that I have a complete driveline from a 94 at hand was a big part of my thoughts. It does fit. There is approx 1/2 - 3/4" of an inch to spare between the suspension towers. and the tt motor..total..so your talking 1/4 " on either side approx. I stepped down from that idea because of the even more extensive mods to properly install it.

You could probably do a "butcher job" and get it in fairly quick...but seriously.. to have a properly set up car..and a safe car, it is not going to be an easy install.

Check out the "general articles" section at Zdriver.com for my write up of my install. it also has a bunch of pics.
