<HTML>am wanting to install a Maxima motor in my 92 300zx 2+2 as they are more plentiful and cheaper. am wanting to know the specs of each ,compatabilities and differences, if Maxima has aluminum block, and bell housing mounts compatibilities, etc. thanks.</HTML>

<HTML>The Maxima engine has no bell housing, because the Maxima is front-wheel-drive. In addition, why would you want one, it may have the same HP but torque is sorely lacking.</HTML>

<HTML>Mr. Spangler,

Are you serious. I own a 300ZX 2+2, and up until December, I owned a 1996 Maxima SE (5-speed). You're talking about two totaly different animals. With the Max, the engine mounting system , which is a transverse mount arrangement, is totally different from a ZX longitudinal layout. The Max requires an engine mount at the front cover end of the engine (that's on the right side of the car in a Maxima). That would be where the fan drive is on your Z. Then you have the transmission case which is an itegral flywheel housing and transmission case all rolled into one. Consider the fact that you would have to fabricate new exhaust manifold systems, air inlet systems, fan drive systems, throttle cable system, etc, etc. The damned list goes on and on. You stand a better chance of stuffing a 5.0 liter Ford Mustang engine in that car. Or better yet, cut a big ass hole in the rear hatch and mount a jet turbine in the damned thing. Then you can take the T-tops off and make duct work to funnel air to the turbine. ****, it would be easier than what you are asking. This why car companies take 2 1/2 to 4 years to introduce a car to market. It's called engineering and development. You get it?

Regards,
Gary</HTML>
