I have a copy of the service manual and checked with the online version you directed me to. In neither of these do I see a drawing indicating the drain plug. The manual just says open the drain plug on the side of the block.
I do see what looks like a plug on the driver's side of the block at the rear end. It is about an inch across flats. Is that the coolent drain plug? Ron

 

That is the drain plug you seek.
