A question from my earlier "Fastest Z?" post conserning my Chevy 350 V8 in the 240Z. For me it means:
350 ci Chevrolet - bored .040 = 385 ci ( 5.85 liter)
Total seal Molly rings
Michigan ı77" bearings
Line honed and decked
Balanced
Browfield aluminum heads
Stainless steel undercut valves
Titanium retainer, pushrods
Cams 270s (2700 duration)
.500 lift
Comp cam springs
Harland Sharps aluminum 1.6 rate roller rockers
Barry Grant Holly double-pumper carburetor
Wiland single plane, high-rise Team G intake manifold
Holly electric fuel pump
Mallory ignition
High volume oil pump
Griffen Racing radiator
Flex fan
Hooker headers
Dynomax turbo mufflers
Dual Supertraps

I think the under-over supertraps are a nice touch. What is your Z "CUSTOM" engine like?

How is a 350 bored .040 over a 385ci. When a 350 bored over .030 is a 355?. Unless all that time I had a 370ci, Man and I was telling people I had a 355. lol Is your motor stroked?. You didn't say what kind of crank or rods your engine has in it snapshot1.

I thought when you put a 400 crank in a 350 you then had 377ci. And if you put a 350 crank in a 400 you had 383ci. Or is it visa versa?.

Just asking so I have things straight for myself, Not flaming you. Responses please.

you can go to any chevy dealer and get a "built" stroker small block crate engine just like that one putting out 400+ HP.

not razzing you, just chevy sells some **** good HP crate engines so its not really custom at all.

already questioned, I'm not going to bother doing math at this hour

Total seal Molly rings
so?

Michigan ı77" bearings
so?

Line honed and decked
so?

Balanced\
I would hope so

Browfield aluminum heads
so

Stainless steel undercut valves
wow, stainless! thats super

Titanium retainer, pushrods
ok, so you overpaid for something that is worthless

Cams 270s (2700 duration)
.500 lift
what's that tell us, nothing

Comp cam springs
and?

Harland Sharps aluminum 1.6 rate roller rockers
bleh

Barry Grant Holly double-pumper carburetor
as opposed to a superior furl injected setup

Wiland single plane, high-rise Team G intake manifold
walmart special?

Holly electric fuel pump
you paid more to get the holley name? and still mis-spelled it?

Mallory ignition
asdg

High volume oil pump
to shoot it up your ass? these do nothing

Griffen Racing radiator
at least you got a new one instead of one off a buick century

Flex fan
what a crock

Hooker headers
so

Dynomax turbo mufflers
again, should we care?

Dual Supertraps
killing power?

I guess as was posted above, this isnt much to call special. I just have to go through each one myself, and figured I would post comments as I went along.

I dont argue that its a good motor, I'm sure it makes great power and whatnot, but you seem to have some sort of motive trying to make autozone parts seem high performance

Dudes!!! I'm just saying my engine was built ground up for my Z by a local race shop. I don't pretend to do the math but was told it was all good. Perhaps something got lost in translation if the #s don't match. And, yes it has 428 hp at the rear wheels by dino. I've only seen one other V8 Z, which was sloppy, in this town so have nothing to compair. BTW, my engine was built like 15 years ago & is by no means hi tech.

So what are your V8 Z like? Just asking.

Hey snapshot1, I was just asking because as far as I knew you couldn't have a 385 without stroking the engine. Just wanted to know what the motor was stroked with. Custom ground crank and rods. What?.

The motor sounds good to me otherwise. Can you get the car to hook up on the street?. What kind of 1/4 mile times is it turning out?.

I'm running stockish tires- Yokohama AVS Intermediate 205/60/15s. I never go from a stop. Only a rolling start. By the time I hit 3rd, I can't see anyone in the rearwiew. Was at 140 at S/F comming out of turn 8 on the strait at Roebling. And I was loping.

350 .030 =355ci
350 .060 =360ci
350 + 400 crank .030 = 383ci
350 + 400 crank .040 =385
350 +400 crank .060 = 388ci
400 + 350 crank 0.030= 377ci
400 + 350 crank .060 = 382

he has a .040 350 block with a 400 crank..

bore sqaured x .7854 x stroke x no. cylinders = engine displacement

350.... 4 inch bore 3.48 stroke
400 4.125 bore 3.75 stroke
