I have a 1990 automatic 300zx N/A and the transmission need to be replaced and a posted a want add for a transmission and a guy told me that he had a Twin turbo trans and it would fit but a few mechanics that i have spoken with have said it wont work but never really said why it wont work? If anyone knows FOR SURE if it will work give me a response????

Well, I'm not 100% positive that it would work but logically I see no reason why it wouldn't. If there are no provisions (i.e. hole in firewall) for the clutch pedal lever, you may have to drill/fabricate one and you may also have to swap out the driveshaft as well (in case the manual trans is longer or shorter than your automatic). Like I said, not 100% positive but since the TT body is identical to the N/A 2 seater (2+2 is as well but is just a little longer), it should fit with minimal fabrication.
And a mechanic should be able to tell you why it won't fit as well.

I don't think there's a difference in the two. I'm assuming the TT trans is also an auto since you didn't specify. If it's cheap enough, buy it. If it doesn't fit, well, that's what eBay is for.

There are differences in the 2 transmissions, but not in length and bolt pattern. Those are the 2 major things you have to look at. While you are under the car you might want to consider going to a one piece driveshaft at the same time.
