Trying to take my camshaft off to take it to the cylinder head shop. Or else they'll charge me like 50 bux more.

Anyway I can't figure out how to take it off. I have the Haynes manual and from what it sez I take the thrust plate off and I guess slide the cam out of the journals. It seems kinda crazy to me though because the cam is putting pressure on the rockers how would you get it back in and it would scratch the cam wouldn't it? Can't I just unbolt bearing out from the head?

I looked everywhere for a procedure and I can't find any online. I can't find any torquing procedures anywhere also. I know on my eclipse you take the caps off and you have to reinstall them in a spefic order and torque. o_O'

You need to remove the rocker arms. Back out the adjusting pivots all the way, use a long screwdriver levered under the cam shaft and on top of the valve washer to push the spring down and wiggle the rocker arm out. Its pretty easy. Then the cam shaft will slide right out. Good luck.

You "looked everywhere for the procedure"?!!!!! It looks like you didn't look in a service manual! Go to Amazon.com and order "How to rebuild your nissan and datsun OHC engine", by tom Monroe. This book pays for itself, and you need it.
