It has a knocking noise under the hood when I first start up in the morning. I had the injectors replace when they were recalled in 1997. Could the lifters being going or what could it be. Does anyone know why when I first start out in the morning going down the road with a bucking between gears before the car reaches the warm up period? Also, when the a/c is on I don't get the much air flow it is on high. I know that it is suppose to gradually increase speed and which mine does not. After the 1/4 mark on my 1984 300zx nt air switch slides to increase air flow and it stays the same speed from the 1/4 mark to high and why?

bad fuel or water in it. condensation made mine knock so bad I thought the rods were gonna fall out in the driveway. use some fuel dryer or techron in it or pull the filter, put an extension hose on the fuel line and pump the tank dry. takes a bunch of turning the key on and back off because of the 8 second timer, but you can pump it all out eventually. don't burn your car or garage down doing it, do it in open air. put some Amoco Ultimate in it. keep the tank topped off so water doesn't condense in the tank when the atmosphere cools off at night.

The ticking noise is from your lifters or your injectors. If it is from your lifters it is because they are worn a little, or they are not getting oil at first. If it was your injectors it would usually start after the the car has been warmed up. If you had water in your gas it would stutter alot. The bucking is because the car is not warmed up as well as the tranny. My 85 does it on colder mornings and in the winter.

The noise I hear every morning is loud knocking and does not let up even when the car is warm, it gets louder. Now what should I do know? I bearly touch the pedal the bucking is so obvious and does let up after the car warms up. Could this be the 02 sensor or something else? Let me know more about this car that I love very much after 16yrs.

Kz31,

What do you mean by the tranny warming up, I thought when the car is warmed up then the bucking would not be there when I accelerate. It does buck when the tranny or engine warmed up. After I shutt off the car for awhile, the bucking would start again. So it doesn't matter if the car is cold or warm. So then what could it be this time? The knocking noise was the alternater loose and needs to be tighten up. Please let me know what the problem is with the bucking now.
