83 280ZX STARTS TO SPUTTER GOING ABOVE 3000RPMS ?

my car starts to sputter at 3000rpms also looses power when climing hills,also when i punch it in the freeway it feels like it holds back ...any ideas ???

First thing to do is unplug the Throttle Position Sensor and blow out any moisture.
The TPS tells the computer to cut fuel above 2800 while decelerating. If the plug has moisture, it shorts and tells the computer the throttle is closed when you are actually trying to accelerate, so that at 2800 the fuel shuts off.

also, try your airflow meter mine went bad and bogged down around 5500, but it could still be your problem

I've had this problem intermittently. if your TPS is working and not wet from aqn engine wash (BTDT), then the best advice I've had is to pull the connector from each fuel injector and treat the contacts with cleaner to make sure I'm getting good contact.. I'm going to use Caig's Deoxit, which is great stuff.

I'm experiencing this problem as well on my 77. To this point I have done:

New Plugs
New Cap
New Rotor
New Vacuum lines
Adjusted TPS
New PCV Valve
Replaced the boots between the air box - AFM - Throttle body
Removed the AAR system (my AAR was not working)

Car has gotten better, much better, but is still for from perfect. My car was also running VERY rich. Not sure if yours is. If I nail the problem i'll let you know. I'm working on cleaning connections and going to check my timing.

i have a loud noise coming from the top of my motor .

i have an 83 280 zx non turbo, the noise sounds like an exaust leak it gets noisier as i go faster down the road ,one person told me it might be a eak in the intake manifold ? any ideas ??? nd if it is how hard is it to change the seal ?
