The oil pressure guage sometimes reads OK and then it will gradually go down to zero!!. The low oil pressure red light does not come on. I have driven it for 300-400 miles with the guage at zero and no bad results. I have replaced the sending unit with basically the same results. I had a new 81 Z [ in 1981] and remember it had a reputation for low oil pressure readings when the RPM was low.
