Hi again, My 81 zx starter clicks whenever I try to start the car. I read that it's commonly the power wire for the solenoid, so I made a relay system that uses the solenoid power wire as a trigger and sends 12V directly from the battery. Still clicks. My volt gauge has a red light but I read that it's because I don't have the battery electrolyte sensor and it's spade connector is tied to the body. I can get the car to start by clicking the starter about 20 times, and sometimes it will start 3 times in a row with no issue. The solenoid is getting plenty of power, I'm thinking that maybe the solenoid isn't getting a good enough ground? I checked with an ohmmeter and the ground from solenoid to battery has no resistance. I'm totally out of ideas, I think the starter gear is hitting the flywheel and doesn't have the strength to push into the teeth.
