Does anybody know how to make a ZX engine look great?
All those hoses and pipes and leads look a bit untidy, is there a way to cover that half of the engine? Do you think a fibreglass cover (nicely painted) would last?

Also...
All the hot Z's I see have the front bumpers removed, and It looks good. Do you think a 280ZX would look any good, without a front bumper?

Just one more thing,
Are electric mirrirs easily removeable/replacable?

don't cover the engine bay up... just get a new intake you can get them all smoothed out and look great.. I however have yet to spend the cash on one. the bumber doesn't look good off of the zx.. get an aftermarket air **** and you will be happy..

I haven't done it myself

i just got in a bit of an accident and when trying to bend my front bumper back into place,it tore off
'81 zx
it looks pretty good, it's easy to take off anyway, just 4 nuts on the back of each of the support beams, and disconnection of the indicator wires.
15 min. tops
but it's the only thing that saved me in the accident
later "mate"

I bought a steel braid kit from the local parts store and spent an afternoon polishing the engine and adding that kit.. Here's what it looks like now:

Still kinda cluttered with the stock fuel rail. Zcarcreations.com sells an aftermarket fuel rail that would clean that up.. As for the bumper, I had mine off my 1st ZX ('79), and it looks like **** w/o it.

Waz-You can tidy up the engine compartment by installing an aftermarket fuel rail from the source mentioned in his post or you can fab one. You can eliminate the throttle control mechanism by adapting one from a later 240sx (or similar car). You can loom the wiring better and cover it with the corrugated plasic covering. In many cases you can buy tees and elbows to fit the vacuum lines so they'll be easier to group together and, of course, a wire braid kit like Scott used is a big dress up. I wouldn't go with a cover as it will tend to hold heat in and exagerate the ZX's tendency to vapor lock.
The mirrors come off easily, ya just gotta pull the door panels.
I had the front bumper of my car and it looked pretty bad (sort of a terminal overbite look). The airdams dress up the front end and give it a more modern look.
