Imagine, your leaving after work Wednesday, traveling a thousand mile, and planning on being there in time for Thanksgiving dinner (midday).......

It won't engage, The light comes on when you push the switch, a relay under the
passenger seat clicks. Push the stalk button to set it and nothing happens. I've
done the obvious plug checking and cleaning thing but that doesn't appear to be
the problem...
How did YOU fix your cruise control?

BobW

p.s. Without it I'll be wasting to much time on the side of the road getting tickets to
make it to Moms in Tucson in time for dinner...

First of all is your car an 83 with digital dash? second of all does the car talk when put the parking brake on a little (just so the brake light comes on) and move more than (i think) 4 mph. if she says nothing then your speed sensor is bad. mine did the same thing and i went to the junkyard and got a new digital dash.

The speed sensor is behind the odometer maybe it is the same as the analog dash. The voice warning system and cruise control use the speed sensor to tell how fast the car is moving.

hope this helps you out.

Do you know if the speed sensor can be replaced as a separate piece?

I don't remember if there was a connector or not. but it probably can be replaced without replacing the entire digital dash. if it doesn't have a connector you will have to solder the 4 wires to it

Thanks, I'll take another look behind the speedo in the morning.
This is a 79' so analog dash and no voice....
I'll post the solution when I find it.
