yep, it's common practice to release cars ahead of january of the actual designation year. i mean, we can already buy 06 civics for example and it's november of 05

i think that aside from the JDM effects on the car, the body and engine are the same as 89-96. I could very likely be wrong, though. Perhaps ask one of our resident Japanese posters?

I believe the Z32 that was released in 89 was a 90 model year.

the z32 was released in 1989 in japan and usa as na first, the tt didnt come till a few months later

in the usa the z32 was discontinued i think due to sales

in japan the z32 was discontinued in 1999

yes there was a 1997,98,99 but only in japan. only diff was in 99 i think. the 99 had a more up to date facsia, had a diff wing, clear taillights and a few other things were just updated

This is not the case there was a 1989 Z32 released in the US.
It was made at the end of the year.

The Z32 discontinued sales in 1998 because Nissan was begining to go bankrupt. They could not afford to sell the Z32 in the States anylonger due to the fact that they were just not selling. And for those of you who don't know Renault bought/merged (not sure which) with Nissan late in 1998. Renault had NO intention of continuing the Production of ANY Z, but the sales were good enough in Japan to continue selling the Z32 for a few more years. After the end of production of the Z32 there was not going to be a new Z....In comes the gorilla team of designers who worked off the clock and late at night to create the Z33. Nissan then showed it as a prototype to see how much appeal it made to the general public....and I'm sure you know the rest.

Actually if I remember corectly, the Z32 came out in June of 89 as a 90 model year. I tried to buy one in October 89 and it was a 90 model year I test drove. They would only give me 4000 in trade on my 85 Turbo so I kept it and bought the 93 Z32 in 1996. Still got both.

Z32 production for North America actually started in February 1989 and were sold as 1990 models.

There are 1989 Z32 models in Japan.
There are 1997, 1998, and 1999 Z32 models in Japan.

Sales of Z32 models in the United States ended in 1996 because of more stringent emissions laws and poor sales. (also the reason 1996 TT models were rated at 280HP vs the 1990-1995's 300HP)
