I was wondering how strong the stock rear end is in my 79'280zx. I do a lot <not a WHOLE lot> of droppin' the clutch, for short street races, and just for fun.
Do I have anything to worry about? should I take it easy?
My little 280zx is new to me, and im having a blast driving it. These things dont have a bad reputation for the rear ends blowing up, right?

The R-200 is essentially an 8" copy of the Ford 9" rear end. It is capable of handling around 400 HP. The real weak link to watch is the universal joints in your half shafts. They are not as strong.

RE: Yes & No...

They are much better than the R180, but like anything else, if it is abused it will fail. I had two fail on my in ten years of driving them hard.
