I've heard of a Zcar taking a turn on the highway going just a bit over the speed limit and lose traction in the rear and spin out of control. I've heard that this is a common problem with Z's but this is the only case I've heard. What's your take on this?

I don't think you've got the right idea. Any car can have traction problems under slippery conditions, on off camber or bumpy roads, when too much throttle is applied.
Z's 1979 thru 1989 had the Maxima chassis which had a problem with camber change causing lack of rear traction in curves on off-camber roads at higher speed if the loaded wheel fell into a drop in the road.
But, all Z's had strut type susp. which had a problem keeping the wheel geom. optimal under all conditions compared to wishbone type susp. For racing, stiffer and shorter springs reduced but did not elim. the problem.

I never had a problem with the z cars that I have owned, I had a 79 zx and it done well everytime that I would stomp the gas and it was all stock. That car was dependable everytime , I went as far as 140 on bad tires and a tire gave out on me at a whopping 110 and I just handled it back to a creeping hault. I suffered a blow out but the car did what it suppose to have done. That car never vibrated or nothing, just performed..................The ride gets interesting after 80 mph !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
