I could not believe my eyes!!!! i get all ass'd off over no overdrive and try to adjust the throttle valve cable (a.k.a kick-down cable) and i finally see that its never been connected to the carb!!!!! Now i have to get an aftermarket pin adapter thingy-ma-bob...and i guess i'll just have my mechanic pals at carquest across the street install and set the darn thing for me. Anyone ever set a throttle valve on a 700r4 Raptor tranny? mine is mated to a 5.7 liter built goodwrench (headers eddlebrock...everything) I'll have pics soon. Oh yeah, since i'm from kansas and have lots of extra John Deer Green paint, i re did my hood and even painted the middle hump black...you know, trying to go for that "bad-boy" look. LOL
t.v = Throttle Valve not kick down. It controls the pressure on the tranny. If the t.v was low you could drive it around the block and smoke the tranny, but sounding lucky yours sounds like t.v was = no OD. good luck if the tranny is fresh dont stomp the throttle cause it could hang the valve high or low and not shift right or burn it up, a common problem when using new Torque converters generating start up trash. Take it easy for a couple hundred miles. if it does hang in the tranny turn off and STOMP the throttle a few times would un stick it.
I'm running an eddlebrock performer intake and eddlebrock 4bbl carb. My friends at carquest ordered the adapter pin kit so that i can hopefully be full up by tomorrow afternoon! Hope my tranny is ok. Only been driving the car a week. I'll keep you all posted.
I hope you have better luck than me with that 700r. I finally gave up on the 700R after messing with TV cables for over a year while going through 3 transmissions. I installed a GM T5 and life was great.
