I read in Motorsport about HKS High Performance flywheel that weighs only 10 pounds.

$310.

Why so expensive?

What use is this thing anyways????

Worth it for a 140K miles 72 240???

Thanks for your help.

Probably the simple answer is because people will pay that much.

Short answer-- faster car. Long answer-- check archives under flywheel. Recent posts discussing physics behind lightened flywheel. Bottom line, not always the best thing for all street applications.

Yea, if it's the mod you're looking for.

More difficult to manufacture = high cost

Made out of Aluminum with Steel insert for wear area of clutch. Expensive to make this dual metal design. Although the price is somewhat jacked up anyways.

Faster acceleration, less hp loss to drivetrain.
Downside, harder to get rolling from a stop because less energy can be stored in the smaller mass flywheel. Look up flywheel in the archives for more in-depth info.

Possibly, if you have other mods that will work well with it. If you have a pretty stock engine, then I'd say it's not worth it.
