When my car reaches 3.5 rpm there is a whining sound!! Someone told me that it could be that the belt tensioner bearings could be going back. Is this the case or is it something else? It seems that the whining gets worse as the rpms go up.... There are no other problems of any kind. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.....

Not a Z expert but....

I have had the alternator bearing do similar things in other cars/trucks. I suggest getting a mechanics stehascope or a long screw driver and test at various places / bearings at idle...if a bearing is going, the noise is going to be there. good luck.

RE: ps: have to put your ear to screwdriver handle

Check that the noise doesn't stop if you depress the clutch and coast
