I have KYB's on my 79 280ZX with eibach progressive springs. When I first put the set up on it was great. As I added HP to the engine it seems to lose it ability to handle the same. The car seems to drift a little. I have a new rack and bushings up front. No it's not the alignment which I just had done. Motorsport auto says not to put KYB with lowered springs? If I goto another strut which is the better brand: Tokico adjustables or Koni adjustables( which Nissan motor sport sells)?Kirk

I called MSA about that same thing today. They said the strut gets 'worked' too much over a very small range and makes it wear out quicker. He (Abraham) said they would only last a year or so. These are the GR2's of course, not the AGX.

I searched the archives and someone recently said, "If you are going to lower your car drastically, be sure and take a section out of the struts so they don't bottom out too soon."

#1. How do you do this? I always thought they were pretty much sealed.
#2. What is considered "drastically".

The item I was searching the archives for I never found: What are the stock spring rates for a 280?
