I've pretty much decided on a set of Centerline billet 17x7" for my 280. These wheels look plenty nice and are polished. They will really improve the looks of the car. However, if cost was no object, I would get HRE's. I was on the phone with the wheel shop today, and HRE's with tires will run over $5000 US!!!!

The website is www.hrewheels.com

I don't think anyone in their right minds would say that HRE's are worth four times what Centerlines are. The guy at the shop said some people are willing to pay this for the ultimate look, implying centerlines are OK, and HRE's are excellent. I think about 95% of people would see the same wheels if they saw Centerlines vs. HRE's.

What do you guys think?

I would never spend anything over 1500 on a set of wheels. All that money can be used on something more useful like engine mods etc. Do you have pics of the Centerline wheels your going to get? I'm going to be getting some 17" Advanti Racing Wheels but decided to hold off until I get some parts to get my Z more boost. Speed before looks right? :)

Do you know how many Z's you can get for $5000? Sheesh, what a waste of moolah. I am also shopping for wheels, but certainly don't have that kind of dough... I would just think of you as one of those yuppy puppies that drive the lowered Hondas with fat exhaust TIPS and $5000 rims that their mommies and daddies paid for. Centerlines are a good rim... probably what I'll buy when I get a job that pays.

I dont like most centerlines but those are alright. Those HREs are cool but the better be cool for 5K. If I was going to get 17s I'd get those revolution RZX's in the MSA catalog. Theres a picture of a early Z with them mounted on the cover of the summer 2001 MSA flyer thing.

My choice would be 16in panasports or 16 inch gold or black mesh looking wheels I forget the name but ZR8ED and 2400cc have them.

I was quoted for four 17x7" with 215/45ZR17 Bridgetone RE730, mounted, balanced, with hardware, and our rediculous 15% sales tax at $2700 CAN.........I would estimate that at around $1600 US all in, maybe a bit less.

ZX-AE

I see where you're coming from. A lot of poeple like the modern look of painted, cast wheels. I guess it's preference.

I like the RZX's too, but I'm not too sure about how they stick out..........

Personally, I don't fancy Panasports too much, but they are nice looking wheels. Plus, I have my heart set on 17's.

Re: ZX-AE

Do they stick out? well that sucks. If I payed that much money(no clue how much) for wheels I'd want them to fit good. maybe they should be used with fender flares(I dont like flares). Know of any other company that sells wheels that will fit a Z with no spacers?
