The little red square in between the speedo and tach. What the heck does it say? its been bugging me since i got the car. please help if you can!

It is a diagnostic light. Push the little button next to it and it will indicate things like, washer level low, or radiator low, or blinker out. I think that if everything is full and working the orange light goes off. I have not reached that state of perfection so I do not know that it goes out for sure.

It should go from the red square to a green "ok" when everything is working right.

I got my 82zx 2+2 in great shape so it said OK in green when all diagnostics are good. Right now the sending unit for my windshield washer tank is no good so it is red for that but all else is ok.

The switch for the W/W fluid level is nothing more than a magnet inside the donut that slides up and down on the shaft.

If the donut is stuck at the bottom of the shaft the switch will be stuck closed.

When you turn the key to the start position the light will come on and be red, give it a second then it should say OK in green, that means everything is cool. Thats been my status for a while. But getting there, now that was a *&#@#* chore!!
