all the expensive kits ive seen have some sort of ballast that does... something.... and i was pokin' around on ebay and found these:

now... stock bulbs are like 45watts or something? and these are 80-100... im guessing they're basically just gonna suck more juice than normal bulbs. whereas the HID's with the ballasts only consume like 35 watts or something? what do you guys think about those things... i know you get what you pay for but im wondering if these things will work w/o problems. better price than silverstars if they produce similar results.

Those arent HID's. They look more like tinted halogen bulbs.

True HID's look more like thermometers than bulbs.

This is a quick-search example of "real" HID's...

those will burn out your connectors for your head lights, (depending on what wattage they are). remember, sometimes, you pay for what you get.

What they said, all it is is a slightly tinted bulb (and trust me, there really is about no color change on the car). I had tried several sets like that, and they were all duller than my basic sylvanias. I'll never go back to halogen now though, real HID's are incomparable.
