Hello all!! GUESS WHAT I FOUND!!!

Well i have an 82 280zx Turbo. And comming outta the turbo there is the thick black hose, and it goes into my intake.

Now this hose from what i can decifer, is what the tubo shoots the air into the intake. Now on my hose, there is a nice LLOOONNNGGG slit, basically the entire length of it.

So i need a new one =)

My question is, what is it called? i dont even know what to ask the part store for??

thanks,
Matt

Well you're going to have to go to your local Nissan dealer for this one.....unless you want to fabricate something. Autozone, NAPA, etc... arfen't going to carry anything that car-specific. I had the same thing happen on a 92 Supra turbo.

Tell the parts guy at Nissan that you want the air hose from the turbo to the AFM. The point at the Microfiche. Without the fiche I couldn't tell you an exact name.

The pressurized air moves from the turbocharger to the throttle chamber (intake manifold) through a STEEL tube about 3 inches across. There is, however, a large diameter flexible duct about 4 inches across that brings the air from the air flow meter to the turbocharger to be pressurized and I think the others are assuming that this is the part to which you refer. If you have a long split in this intake duct your car ought to be running pretty bad. Anyway, even a dealer may not have this part. Look for it used, or contact some of the parts suppliers recommended by this web site.

Yah, i took my car to a Z-mechanic here in town ( good friend of mine ) and he let me take an 82 280zx turbo out. And i could feel the difference. Then he took mine out and said...

"Your experiencing little if no turbo lag on that turbo, its spooling up faster than the other cars turbo. But for some reason even tho your turbo is generating about 7 psi of boost, your car isn't getting it"

so we checked it out and saw that the hose leaving the turbo and into the intake had a split in it, and needed to be replaced.

so if its just a piece of steel pipe, i and prolly just go somewhere that sells pipe and get one fabricated, or check the local dealers.

But still, What is that thing called????

Ok, i havn't been able to get the sucker off there yet because its to **** hot,

However upon a little bit closer inspection, from what i can see there is a rubber boot kinda cover on it, not sure if its a connector or what. But this connector ( it has 2 clamps on it ) is what seems to have the split.

So if thats all i need maybe it will be easier to find.
