Novice here. I have a 1978 Datsun 280z. I noticed this plastic housing piece was slipping off, and the plastic broke and the metal ring that keeps it in place does not fit on the plastic housing any more. Can someone help me find a replacement part for this, or at least let me know what the name is so I can find a replacement?

Thank you for all your help!!

hello friend,

that is a fuel injector harness plug. you will (should) have six of these. it is very common for the boots to crack and come apart, the clip housings to become brittle and break, and to have their metal clips missing. you can get new quick disconnect plugs online. ebay is a great source.

these are universal and work well. much better than the clips. I have them on mine. a solid and inexpensive upgrade.

sounds like you are new to these cars... well, in that case go here and start reading www.xenonzcar.com

download the FSM for your year car too.

welcome to the club.

enjoy,

If you're a cheapskate like me, you can find much-improved versions of the Datsun connectors all day long at any self-serve junkyard. They came on 80s-90s BMWs. Buck each last time I stocked up.

Forsooth, thee have no pockets?

What say thee, thou hast no pockets? Recoverage of thy junqueyarde entry fee through honorable pilferage of miniscule parts is a given... Thy salary must be grande, if thou dost have dollares to burn thusly at $1 per connectore!

:devil And thou dare stateth thine profession as "cheapskate"-prevaricator I say! Prevaricator!

@bonfire79 thanks for this information. Really appreciate it.
Glad I have some options now. That ebay option looks great.

Thank you everyone else for the input.
Now I just have to figure out how to replace the old connector with the new ones. I'm sure there is a youtube tutorial for that somewhere.

you will need to splice the pig tails in. It can be done and it can be done in a solid, professional way, and look good after. get some heat shrink, electrical tape, some good wire cutter/strippers, and a heat gun... well, I lighter can do also if you don't have one of these. or you can take it to an electrical shop or auto place and pay them to do it. while you're at this, go through the bay and look for other harness plugs that are broke or corroded. also, you should go and clean ALL of the electrical connections that you can find.

I'm sure there is a youtube tutorial for that somewhere.
despite some of the worldly idiots that unfortunately have cameras and access to the internet, youtube is your friend. find the videos that actually have people who have good tutorials and know what they are doing and not those who spend face time speaking out their butts. (I'm talking to YOU... flat-earth people, chemtrail tards, and other online morons that don't know what they're talking about) :devil

welcome for the info. have fun with your Z.

Cheers,

Bon

Here is a universal 2 wire connector for Bosch style injectors. Autozone has for around $10. I must be getting old the last time I bought these I think they were only 2 or 3 bucks!

Found another type on Amazon. Really they are available all over. Just look for Bosch Injector connector or pigtail
