i have a F54 block with a P79 head. I am not sure what the compression is. The head has been redone, and the engine has only 80,000 on it. Would it be worth putting a mild cam in it. I was thinking about a 480 lift cam. I am open for all suggestions. I have not driven the car yet (put the engine in a 71 z) so i dont know how much peformance a cam will give it. Tell me what you think.

I had P79/F54 engine with 472 cam. The head was ported and polished with stainless steel valves. shaved it .050" ran about 9.5 to 1 compression. it was in 280z and I beat 305 Z28. it'll give you more pull above 4000 rpm

I think stock was 240??? duration. The stock engine never pulled anymore than 6500rpm. with aftermarket cam pulled to 7000rpm may be more with more fuel and air. I would get it.
